BGAV is “Living the Story” at 195th Annual Meeting
The Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) held its 195th Annual Meeting from Monday, November 12, through Wednesday, November 14, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. George Fletcher presided throughout the meeting. Six hundred seventy-six messengers attended along with 283 guests and exhibitors for a total of 959 meeting participants.
Josh Franklin, pastor of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, extended a warm welcome and brought greetings. He then offered the invocation and shared a passage from 1 Corinthians 15:58, challenging the BGAV to “remain steadfast and immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.” Read more.
Upton Celebrates and Challenges Churches in BGAV Executive Director’s Report
A highlight of the 195th Annual Meeting of the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) was John Upton’s Executive Director report, during which he shared many of the ways the BGAV is “Living the Story,” which was the theme of this year’s meeting. He told of the history of the BGAV, which began in 1823 for two main reasons: to focus on the local church, and to be “movemental”—to engage the local church in a movement of some kind—in order to help each local church accomplish more than what that church could do by itself. BGAV Approves 2019 Budget
During the Wednesday business session of the 195th Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) Annual Meeting, messengers voted to approve the 2019 budget of $9.1 million. Read more.
