The leaves are changing, baseball playoffs have begun, and the Virginia Baptist calendar is full. It must be Autumn!
There are multiple events and opportunities for Virginia Baptists to enjoy this month. As always, you may visit our Event calendar for all events and dates. Below are a few highlights you don’t want to miss.
October 10-12: Ignite – A Retreat for Middle School Students at Eagle Eyrie
Ignite is a high energy weekend that is designed to ignite a passion for the faith journey of your middle school students through meaningful worship and Bible study.
New for this year is the focus on one person from the Bible, allowing students to connect and develop a passion for Scripture.
October 12: World Hunger Sunday
This is a day set aside to remember those that are not sure from where their next meal is coming. The Virginia Offering for World Hunger was established at the Baptist General Association of Virginia annual meeting in 1982. Since that time, Virginia Baptists have given tremendous support to this offering, with contributions totaling over three million dollars.
The hunger offering is truly a “World” Hunger Offering because funds are distributed through our many partners here in Virginia and around the world.
October 13-15: Gathering of Silence Retreat at CrossRoads
Always a popular retreat, you are invited to allow the stream and forest of Crossroads and the quiet of the surrounding mountains cause your heart to slow and your mind to center. Never fear, there are times for talking. We hope you will set aside time to join us for this restful, relaxing, and replenishing break from your busy life.
October 18, 20, & 21: Chorale Concerts
Both the Virginia Baptist Male Chorale and the Women’s Chorale have concerts this month. The Women’s Chorale will have a concert in Danville on October 18 at Mount Hermon Baptist Church.
