BGAV College Scholarship Recipient: Cody Billups

Posted: 9/6/18 at 9:50am.

Cody Billups is a member of Franklin Baptist Church in Franklin, VA. He is a second-year student at Regent University, where he is majoring in Business with a concentration in General Management.

“Being raised in the church, I was thankful to have always known about Jesus; however, I did not become serious about my faith until I was in middle school, “ Cody said. “Franklin Baptist Church is my home church and where I still attend when I am home on the weekends from college.”

One of Cody’s favorite things about BGAV is Music and Worship Arts Camp, where he has been a participant for eight summers! “I still stay in contact with many friends and pastors in Virginia, which has allowed me to have a large number of references and mentors within the BGAV community,” explained Cody.

He also noted that summer camps and mission opportunities like Impact Mission Camps have greatly influenced him. “I am grateful to be part of a church that is a member of the BGAV,” he said.

Through Cooperative Missions offerings, the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) provides scholarships and ministerial education funds for eligible Virginia Baptist students who need aid in financing their education. BGAV Scholarships and Ministerial Education Funds can help students earn an undergraduate degree, pursue undergraduate or graduate education in preparation for vocational ministry, or access training and continuing education opportunities.

Once each month, we are featuring a current-year scholarship recipient on our blog to help our readers get to know these promising students. Please pray for them as they study and seek to discern God’s will for their lives.
