The BGAV Welcomes New Field Strategists

As part of the new staff restructure, the Congregational Field Staff has announced the employment of five new field strategists serving the BGAV. Our field staff serve churches throughout Virginia, helping resource church and ministry leader needs. In addition, the transitional facilitator for the Tidewater Region will be in place until November to ensure a smooth transition.

Southwest Virginia

fletcher-darrell-107x150Darrell Fletcher is serving part time as the lead field strategist for the Highlands Baptist Association, Blue Ridge Baptist Association, East River Baptist Association, New River Baptist Association and Lebanon Baptist Association.

Darrell recently retired after serving for 12 years as the fulltime Southwest Virginia field strategist. Darrell had previously pastored at Green Valley Baptist Church for 5 years.

steve-collins-croppedSteve Collins is serving as the part time lead field strategist for the Powell River Baptist Association, Clinch Valley Baptist Association, Wise Baptist Association and New Lebanon Baptist Association.  He continues to serve at First Baptist Church, Nickelsville, where he has been the pastor since 1993.

BobMooreBob Moore is the part time lead field strategist for the Roanoke Valley Baptist Association, Strawberry Baptist Association, Franklin County Missionary Baptist Association and Henry County Baptist Association.  He will be retiring this spring from Bonsack Baptist Church, where he has been the pastor since 1976.

The three lead field strategists will be working in Southwest Virginia alongside Darrell Cook (BGAV collegiate minister at Virginia Tech) and Jennifer Mullins (BGAV collegiate minister at Radford).

Tidewater Region

BrianWilliamsBrian Williams will be the part time lead field strategist for The Bridge Network, Peninsula Baptist Association, Portsmouth Baptist Association, and Blackwater Baptist Association. He has most recently served as the Pastor of Missional Community at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Ruckersville.

Helping Brian in making a smooth transition into this new position, Eddie Heath will be working with Brian until the summer. Eddie will remain a part of the Congregational Field Staff through November, as he helps launch special projects.

Working with Brian in the Tidewater/Northern Regions are Susan McBride (susan.mcbride@bgav.org) and Jim Ailor (jim.ailor@bgav.org). Jim will be the lead strategist for the region. Collegiate ministers serving these regions are Carey Sims (University of Mary Washington), Jeffrey Buffkin (College of William and Mary), and Scott and Chelsea Anderson (Old Dominion University).

Valley Region

SkipWallaceSkip Wallace will begin as the lead Valley Field Strategist on April 11. Skip has most recently served as pastor at King’s Grant Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. He and his wife Elise were missionaries in King William’s Town, South Africa for eleven years.

He will be serving the Valley/Central Regions alongside Jeff Cranford, lead Field Strategist for the Central Region (jeff.cranford@bgav.org). Collegiate ministers serving the regions are Daphne Almarode (James Madison University) and Blake Tommey (University of Virginia).
