We live in an increasingly polarized culture characterized by a lack of civility and respect. This polarization is creating division and broken relationships among family members, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. Many conversations deteriorate into a war of words. As followers of Jesus we have a clear mandate to live and love in ways that express God’s Kingdom in our world.

The theme for this year’s Fanning the Flame event is Exploring Revolutionary Civility. Gathering just miles from historic Yorktown where the Revolutionary War ended, we will begin to explore how we might create a culture of civility as an essential part of our witness to God’s Kingdom. This pursuit has revolutionary implications for an imploding culture.

Our keynote speaker will be former Senator Paul Trible, President of Christopher Newport University.
