“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” – Matthew 25:40
Followers of Jesus are called to a GREATER life. GREATER love. GREATER generosity. GREATER compassion. GREATER service. Are you living an ordinary life or a GREATER life? Ignite Weekend will challenge and inspire students to look and act like Jesus by having a heart for others – all for the glory of God!
Main Speaker: Keith Farmer
Keith is the director and founder of Straight Street and Street Ransom in Roanoke, VA. Keith married his high school sweetheart in May 1989. He and his wife are the proud parents of two teen boys, Carson and Craig. At the beginning of his career, Keith used his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Administration as a nursing home administrator. During their time serving as AWANA leaders in their church, Keith and Heather felt the Lord’s leading to do more to show and share Christ with hurting teens in the Roanoke Valley. In 1994, this calling turned into the founding of Straight Street Ministries. Nearly 20 years later, God directed and opened doors for Keith to launch a new ministry, Street Ransom. Straight Street received its name from Proverbs 3:5-6. God has been making path’s straight through the ministries of Straight Street and Street Ransom for over 24 years.
Relinquish is a four-piece CCM band from Roanoke, VA. They first got their start back in July 2009. Since the beginning, their main purpose is to share the Gospel through their music. Relinquish has chosen to serve the Lord through the gifts that He has given them. Fortunately, the Lord has blessed the band immensely, and they have had the privilege to do just that! Ultimately, the band wants to hold true to what they believe in most. Which is expressed in the bands mission statement: “We want to strive to create music that makes a difference, for the sake of the Gospel, in a world that desperately needs change.”

Regarding chaperones, and all others 18 years of age and older:
As a Kingdom partner, we want to do all that we can do to ensure that we are providing a safe and secure environment for the minors and/or the intellectually or physically disabled with whom we work and minister to. To help us achieve this goal, we now require that each church complete a criminal background check through a reputable company for each adult or youth 18 years or older planning to participate in a BGAV-sponsored event or mission trip. Any official background check your church has conducted within the past four years is acceptable. If any background check comes back with a felony or serious driving issue, please contact our business office to confidentially discuss the issue. Any person who is found to have criminal convictions related to sexual offenses or felonies related to children shall in no case be permitted to attend.
This process is not intended to question the character of the individual or their value to BGAV. Our sole concern is that we have done all that we can do to assure all involved that we are providing a safe and secure environment for our minors. Once background checks have been completed for each person, ensuring that all of the requirements have been met, please have a ministerial staff member or church officer complete and sign the certification statement and return to us three (3) weeks prior to the event.
