Journey: A Retreat for High School Students

Date: March 13, 2020 - March 15, 2020
All Day

Eagle Eyrie Baptist Conference Center
1 Eagle Eyrie Drive
Lynchburg, VA

Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”  John 20:21 (NIV)

Join us on the mountain at Eagle Eyrie in Lynchburg for Journey: A Retreat for High School Students! Through our retreat verse of John 20:21, youth will explore what it means to live as “sent” people. As Christians, our calling is to live out God’s mission every day whether it’s in our own neighborhood or another country. We have been sent, but what does that look like? This interactive weekend will be a time for youth to learn about what God’s mission is and what that looks like in the community of faith. They will be introduced to other cultures, listen to the experiences of churches on mission in Virginia, and begin to develop their own stories of faith within the larger church community. Barriers will be torn down. Differences and commonalities will be celebrated. We have been sent as one church with one mission. Where are we going?

More details coming soon as they are finalized!

Volunteer Information:

As a Kingdom partner, we want to do all that we can do to ensure that we are providing a safe and secure environment for the minors and/or the intellectually or physically disabled with whom we work and minister to. To help us achieve this goal, we now require that each church complete a criminal background check through a reputable company for each adult or youth 18 years or older planning to participate in a BGAV-sponsored event or mission trip. Any official background check your church has conducted within the past four years is acceptable. If any background check comes back with a felony or serious driving issue, please contact our business office to confidentially discuss the issue. Any person who is found to have criminal convictions related to sexual offenses or felonies related to children shall in no case be permitted to attend.

This process is not intended to question the character of the individual or their value to BGAV. Our sole concern is that we have done all that we can do to assure all involved that we are providing a safe and secure environment for our minors. Once background checks have been completed for each person, ensuring that all of the requirements have been met, please have a ministerial staff member or church officer complete and sign the BGAV Certification Statement. In addition, each adult of youth 18 years or older needs to complete the BGAV Expectation Form. Please return all forms to Karen Rackett prior to your arrival at Eagle Eyrie.

Forms to be completed:
