Due to this year’s COVID-19 pandemic,
the 2020 Music and Worship Arts Camp has been cancelled.

It is with a heavy heart that the planning committee for the Music and Worship Arts Camp at Eagle Eyrie announces the cancellation of this summer’s event that had been scheduled for July 13-17, 2020.

We are deeply disappointed and understand that you are, as well.  This decision was made with prayerful consideration and thoughtful conversations based on the best information available.  Unfortunately, there is still too much that we do not know about COVID-19, and our first priority is to keep campers and faculty, as well as their families, safe and well.

Music and Worship Arts Camp has always been a week of creative exploration, musical challenge, and discipleship growth.  And those elements will return when camp resumes next year, July 12 – 16, 2021!  Save the date!  This year, however, our worship and creative expressions must, necessarily, be a little different.  We do not want you to forget about camp, but encourage you to use this time to explore your own artistic faith journey.

Because we will not be together in our traditional way, we challenge you and your church family to help us continue in the spirit of MWAC.  You are invited to send pre-COVID videos of you or your youth group singing, ringing hand bells, playing instruments, offering drama, presenting liturgical dance, leading worship, or current photos of completed art and media projects, or photographs that inspire worship of our great Creator.  Our desire is to compile these worshipful expressions into encouraging moments that will be shared through various social media during the traditional week of camp! Those videos and photos can be sent, no later than Monday, July 6, to Baylor May at baylor.may@eagleeyrie.org, designated “for virtual MWAC 2020”.

As we continue during these different and trying days, be comforted and encouraged by the words of our Savior when His disciples, His friends, were facing difficult and challenging days:  “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” –John 14:27

We look forward to seeing you in 2021!

Rod Miller, Eagle Eyrie Director
Catherine R. White, Music and Worship Arts Camp Program Director
Debbie Cobb, Music and Worship Arts Camp Program Assistant

We hope to see you there!

For children and youth who have completed grades 4–9
A special track (limited enrollment) for those who have completed grades 10-12
Camp internship positions available for college students!

Music and Worship Arts Camp is a powerful opportunity to explore and expand our expressions of worship, and to grow closer as a family of faith – joining together to praise God who created us for relationship!

The Virginia Baptist Music and Worship Arts Camp is designed for those children and youth who have completed grades 4-12. The camp is divided into 3 different tracks:

  1. The Alpha Track is designed for those who have completed grades 4-6.
  2. The Omega Track is targeted for those who have completed grades 6-9. Churches with campers who have completed grade 6 may choose which camp track they will attend.
  3. The Delta Track is for campers who have completed grades 10-12.

The camp consists of worship times and special interest classes, as well as participation in a choral and/or instrumental ensemble. Each afternoon also contains free time to meet new friends while enjoying the Eagle Eyrie pool, the newly-expanded recreational facilities, and the on-site gift, coffee, and ice cream shops.

This is a music camp, and those who do not enjoy musical activities should find a camp that is more geared to their interests. Past classes have included handbells, banners, audio technology, photography, drama, worship arts, puppets, guitar, African drumming, piano, interpretive movement, stomp, sketching, and lyric writing among others.

Due to this year’s COVID-19 pandemic,
the 2020 Music and Worship Arts Camp has been cancelled.
