Dean Miller, Team Leader for Glocal Missions, just updated the Hunger Ministries page with the most recent statistics.
Below are some highlights:
In 2013 we collected a total of $198,821 giving us a total of over $4.5 million since 2000.Fifty percent of these funds leaves our state and is used both nationally and internationally through our many partners, such as the Southern Baptist Convention, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, Baptist World Alliance, and others. The remaining fifty percent is used by Baptist General Association of Virginia churches, district associations, and other partnering agencies and ministry centers.
- Over $96,000 in funds were distributed to 63 Virginia Baptist churches, ministries or other organizations within the state in 2013.This number increases to over $628,000 distributed to more than 180 unique ministries in 78 different towns, cities and counties in Virginia since 2008. So, in some fashion the hunger ministries of Virginia Baptist churches have reached nearly 200,000 individuals representing 30,000 families.
