First Baptist Church is located in the heart of the historic city of Staunton, Virginia. We are surrounded by the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley’s rolling hills and mountains and a unique and friendly culture in our quaint city. We are situated in an ideal location to connect with people of all ages and life stages in Staunton and the surrounding areas. For many years, First Baptist, nestled among Staunton’s residential community, has served our neighbors and our church family faithfully by showing the love of Jesus to all. Pointing others to Jesus is our highest calling. Our ministries to adults, youth and children, have included outreach to neighboring schools such as Stuart Hall, Mary Baldwin and Bessie Weller Elementary. Our church also places a high priority on reaching beyond our doors through our television ministry of 40 years which is recorded and broadcasted weekly to the public which includes interpreters for the deaf community. Since First Baptist was founded 171 years ago, the church also has played an important role in building God’s Kingdom by helping to establish eight area churches. We are praying for a full-time senior pastor who preaches and teaches the authority, inspiration, and inerrancy of God’s word with kindness and love. We are seeking a leader who will disciple our congregation through teaching and training to reach the lost and unchurched. We also are praying for a pastor who is focused on developing relationships that will shepherd and train church members in their individual walk with the Lord. First Baptist is committed to our pastor’s spiritual development and growth by encouraging time for sabbaticals, associational support, retreats and being respectful of their personal time.
