Position Title: Full-Time Senior Pastor Job Summary: Round Oak Baptist Church, located in the Corbin area of Caroline County, Virginia, is seeking a man of God to be our full-time senior pastor. Our church is south of the city of Fredericksburg and north of the town of Bowling Green. Our church members are supportive and faithful and love being the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus inside our church walls and outside in our community. Our congregation would prefer someone with a seminary degree and conservative/moderate theology. We desire a pastor who stands for Biblical truth and is able to communicate God’s Word clearly and with conviction, who shows leadership by discipling, mentoring, and coaching others, is able to work with various types of personalities, is effective in counseling persons facing spiritual, emotional, and mental needs, and enjoys visiting church members in their homes, visiting people in the midst of crisis, as well as hospital and homebound visitation. We are looking for a pastor who loves people and can show warmth, empathy, care and compassion to all. Principle responsibilities: Prepare and preach at Sunday morning worship services, preach relevant and applicable sermons, including children’s sermons. Lead the church and new members in spiritual development and growth Coordinate with the Deacons for the health and welfare of the church, including visitation and outreach. Supervise and work with church staff and officers, to include at least one monthly staff meeting Participate in the planning of outreach activities in the surrounding community. Provide personal counseling as needed and/or provide pastoral care through the most effective means possible Perform marriages including pre-marital counseling, funerals, baptisms, deacon ordinations, baby dedications, etc. Regularly lead the congregation in the Lord’s Supper. Serve as moderator of the Business Meetings and as ex-officio officer of all teams. Expectations: Professional/Personal Contribute to and participate in the overall life of ROBC, including joining as a member. To lead the ministries of the Church in dynamic and meaningful ways. Get involved with the congregation to be aware of their spiritual needs. Attend Church Council Meetings, Business Meetings, staff meetings and other meetings, as necessary. Establish relationships within the community, including local pastors, to encourage ministry partnerships. Commit to personal growth in the area of ministry. Maintain regular office hours and communicate weekly schedules with the Church Secretary. He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him. (1 Timothy 3:4, NLT) Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God. Maintains a friendly, enthusiastic and flexible team approach while working with congregation members, volunteers, and staff members. Self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry. Skills/Experience: Good organizational, communication, teaching skills and the ability to communicate through social media and other computer technology. Experience resolving conflict biblically, in a personal or professional capacity Ability to generate new ideas, develop leaders and values a team concept of ministry Exhibits a sense of calling and passion for working with people of all age groups.
